About this deal

Almost exactly like the slightly larger Celestrons, the big Orions come swaddled in a four-sided articulating wrap of nylon-clad thin fiberboard.

If you are dealing with a lot of light pollution I recommend the biggest binoculars you and your tripod can handle. First class service from RVO, and I will be using them again when it comes to getting my scope – thanks guys! The 16x80ED is probably the best of the ones you've listed, but I don't quite see it to fit your Bortle 5 +/- 1 skies.Knowing how things may be grouped into different categories and how each type performs can offer you a general notion of what to look for when it comes time to make your purchase so that you won't be confused. I could see the central core clearly, and with some averted vision, make out some finer details in the disk. Optical quality is also a very important factor to puncture light pollution and to see better at every opportunity.

Celestron Skymaster 20 x 80 Observation Binoculars

This may have been because, while the night sky was clear, we may have needed to go to a dark sky reserve to truly make the most of them. That's not really of concern to Celestron for the SkyMaster Pro 20x80, which are thus maximised for light-gathering. The fact that the owner (Kevin) double checks every binocular he sells for collimation make it an attractive purchase. You will get more appropriate answers if you let us know where you are in the world and what equipment you have now. The Sierra Designs 800 20 is all designed to make nights in the great outdoors more comfortable – no zips required! Tripod use is highly recommended with these binoculars as they offer effective stabilization and alleviate strain on the arms.

When lighting conditions are not ideal and there is a lot of glare or light entering from the side, switch to the winged eyecups to block this light and improve the view. The 80mm objectives and BAK 4 prism multi-coated optical system combine to deliver bright crisp images with good colour contrast and minimal chromatic aberration. The Nikon Aculon A30 10x25s are a roof prism design which make them much more lightweight (10 oz) and compact.Attached to that centre support rail is a rod sporting a regular tripod thread, which can be attached to any ball head or pan tilt head via a baseplate.
